Two new pieces in show
Recently, I've been taking formally completed pieces and embellishing them with paper collage with 3d effects, giving them a totally new look. It's been a lot of fun to transform the into something 'new' and I'm thrilled with them! Regarding these two pieces, I'm intrigued by the wisdom of trees, the lovely life they give and hold within their branches, and the joy they bring through the different seasons.
"Five Birds" This is a new 3-D paper collage mixed media piece | |
 | "Springtime" Another new 3-D paper collage mixed media piece |
These are some older pieces in the show...
Though my current emphasis is on digital painting, my roots are firmly in traditional media. I made the acrylic painting, "Irises" while taking a class at the Baum School of Art in Allentown, PA (2009). It was inspired by local Warren County irises. "Three Tomatoes" was completed around 2012 while taking an oil painting class with Lena Shiffman. "Blue Crab" was completed while taking a watercolor class while I was living in Delaware (2006). I made "Three Girls" during college. The blond-haired girl with her back to the viewer represented my friend Sarabeth, a good friend of mine. I was experimenting with flowy lines and the theme of friendship. Friends are such a gift and the love and support a friend offers during difficult times is invaluable. I also love the golden light before dusk at the beach and was trying to capture that as well.
 "Irises" acrylic, 16 x 20, 2009 | "Three Tomatoes" oil, 5 x 7, 2012 |
"Blue Crab" watercolor, 8 x 10, 2006
"Three Girls", watercolor, 16 x 20, 1986 (The matted and framed image is above)

I am honored to have another poem and illustration of mine appear today on the #LoveMadeVisible blog event sponsored by the EasternPennPoints blog, the official blog of the Eastern Pennsylvania region of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI). #LoveMadeVisible is a month-long blog event with the theme being "LOVE - in any and every form". Check out all the awesome contributions during the month of February! Click here for my poem.
This illustration and poem was inspired by our beloved bunny, Tyler.

TYLER
2003-2014
Some of my favorite images of Tyler and the artwork he inspired.
Tyler with his 'prayer shawl'
Since Tyler's health crisis began in June 2013, our vet and staff have been a great source of expertise, knowledge, and support to us! We love and greatly appreciate Dr. Paul Sedlacek and the whole staff of Animal Clinic of Morris Plains!! They specialize in 'exotics', of which bunnies are included. I recently made them some cookies as a long-overdue THANK YOU!!
Our bunny, Tyler's, favorite...CLOVER ala Photoshop!
Here's Tyler after munching on some of that gorgeous clover from our yard...
Since Tyler developed serious health challenges last June we've been in care-giving mode. As he doesn't use his litter box anymore, we clean his towels and his bunny self in the morning and evening, as well as attend to his various needs throughout the day. I've never seen him in this position before, so I was quick to grab my camera and catch it. The unedited video below is complete with poopy feet, dreamy twitching, and carrot-stained paws, and did I mention poop? Enjoy!
WELCOME to my blog! This a collection of photos, art, poems, thoughts, and other stuff on my creative journey since 2010.
