Day 602:  A Photo A Day  •  RVAA Rocks!

5/31/2013

For those who are artists (or just interested in art) in the Bridgewater, NJ area, I highly encourage you to visit the Raritan Valley Arts Association!

Thank you, RVAA!!

I had such a wonderful time doing my collage demonstration there Wednesday night (May 29).  Special thanks to Alka Dalal, the president -- Your warm welcome, kindness, and help throughout the night was greatly appreciated! And Diana Patton, the friend who 'invited' me to present there!  The group was lovely and we all had a fun time talking about collage and working on our own projects.

Unfortunately my camera wasn't working, so I don't have any photos to share of the night. But I'm posting my work in progress -- a collage of Rose, based on her photo.

Thanks to all who came out that night and made it so special for me!

My husband Evan's father, Paul E. Rupff (right) and uncle Roger VanKuiken both served in the US Navy during World War II.
We salute them and all the veterans and current U.S. service members who serve our country so bravely.
May God's strength, wisdom, and favor surround you and your families with peace and grace as you courageously serve our country, in Jesus' Name. We remember you and honor you.

Paul E. Rupff's (1923-2009) graduation photo from Midshipmen's School, Great Lakes Training Center, Northwestern University.

Lieutenant (J.G.) Rupff (affectionately known as "Pinky") served from 1944-1946 as a ship's officer on the USS Oliver Mitchell, DE-417

The Unknown Soldier

You need not ever know my name
This unknown soldier seeks no fame

I'm here to bring out thought from you
May your heart see more than your view

America, we marched with pride
We gave our life, for you we died

How well we knew the time might come
When life could sound that final drum

Please think of us as life moves on
We tried so hard till that last dawn

Do let our spirit fill the land
Pass treasured freedom, hand to hand

God blessed this country with such love
Hold in your heart, abundance of

And when you stand before my grave
Think not of one, but each who gave

The rhododendron outside our front door is popping right now!
The year's at the spring
And day's at the morn;
Morning's at seven;
The hillside's dew-pearled;
The lark's on the wing;
The snail's on the thorn;
God's in His heaven -
All's right with the world!

Another beauty on our windowsill...

Roesbud, A Flower of God's Design

It is only a tiny rosebud, a flower of God’s design.
But I cannot unfold the petals with these clumsy hands of mine.

And the secret of unfolding flowers is not known to such as I.
God opens this flower so sweetly, when in my hands it dies.

If I cannot unfold a rosebud, this flower of God’s design,
Then how can I have the wisdom to unfold this life of mine?

So I’ll trust in Him for leading each moment of my day.
I will look to Him for His guidance each step of the pilgrim way.

The pathway that lies before me, only my Heavenly Father knows.
I’ll trust Him to unfold the moments, just as He unfolds the rose.

Spring Flowers from Willowwood Arboretum, Chester, NJ
I think it pisses God off if you walk by the color purple in a field somewhere and don't notice it.... People think pleasing God is all God care about.  But any fool living in the world can see it always trying to please us back.

Would you like sprinkles on that?
Cookies in Heaven

If God were a baker
You’d be his “special of the day”
His top-secret ingredient
His favorite flavor
His cherished recipe
You’d be the chocolate chips
The “only the finest ingredients”
You’d be – organic.

If God were a baker
Every day would be a special occasion
He’d make you for friends
And mail you to distant relatives
He’d enjoy you first thing in the morning
And last thing at night
He’d rave about you all day long
And finish each sweet crumb
With a sigh of satisfaction.

If God were a baker
He'd share your goodness with the world
You’d bring healing and wholeness
Wherever you went
Your tenderness lighting up the darkness
Your aroma reviving the faint
Your sprinkles bringing laughter
Your frosting making dreams come true
And joy would fill every belly.
