 Back of plaque Evan received from Montville Township Education Association, June 2015  Recognition from the Montville Township Board of Education My husband's tenure as a 21-year science teacher at Montville Township High School ends this month as he retires from his full-time teaching position. Evan taught a total of 28 years in the NY AND NJ public school systems, his best years being at MTHS teaching ‘Environmental Science’. At MTHS he also served as the Boys Head Track Coach, Bowling Club Advisor, Christian Club Advisor, National Honor Society Co-Advisor, and Videographer for the MTHS football team. His "Best Teaching Day Ever" was on Halloween 2014 when he dressed up as Walter White from the Breaking Bad TV Show and taught lessons that day on the environmental damage caused by the manufacturing of methamphetamine (pictures below). Throughout his career, Evan’s teaching philosophy has been, “I teach STUDENTS science.” (Not “I teach SCIENCE to students”). As his wife, I’m blessed to be the beneficiary of Evan’s wonderfully creative, caring, and communicative nature. This combined with his unique teaching style has enabled him to have great success as a teacher. Though looking forward to what's next, Evan has emphatically stated that he will most definitely miss his colleagues and students—the "BEST part of my job!" I personally have great respect for all those in the public education system and the many difficulties they face these days as they serve our country’s most valuable possession -- our children. Evan and I both appreciate the honors, support, and well-wishes of family, friends, colleagues, and students that he’s received since announcing his retirement! Thanks for your prayers as we step into the next chapter of our lives. Below are some photo highlights of his career and retirement celebrations.
