I recently learned that The Shack is being released as a major motion picture tomorrow, March 3rd.
I wanted to put my two-cents in and recommend the book. I LOVED IT! I read it back in 2009 and it had a dramatic effect on my spiritual life-- I cried throughout the book as the protagonist journeys through brokenness, overwhelming sadness, and anger to a real relationship with God and wholeness.
I loved the visual illustrations of the tri-part God in His different characteristics.
I loved how the story showed a plan to deal with evil done to us in this world, and how (with God's help) we can forgive and heal.
I bought a copy for my Mom and brother, Doug, who were big readers. Doug probably didn't read his Bible much, but he DID read this book and LIKED it! Doug died tragically young at 49, and I will always be thankful that he read this book. I hope it gave him a sense of hope and God's love for him-- and a foretaste of the heaven he is healed and whole in right now.
