We've been watching this HUGE black and yellow garden spider, a sentry in its web on the bushes outside our door, for days now. Actually-- we've been 'stalking' him. He's sooooo patient as he waits and waits for 'food', even in the dark. He's diligent-- he's hard-core, and we have to admire him. Ev went out after a rain shower yesterday and noticed him in full action, re-creating a part of his web that the rain destroyed. 'You had to be there', but I captured a few minutes of his dancing web-work. It was fascinating to see!! (The 'new' web he built is on the right, that doesn't have any raindrops on it.) My cousin-in-law pointed out that this is a black and yellow garden spider, and is a good one to have!
If you say so, John! :-) Evan found this one on a bush in our yard. Taken 2:17 pm I did NOT look directly into the sun to take this shot. I just held the camera up and clicked away, hoping for the best. Evan says he can see the shadows of the moon in this image. It was such a unique and awesome experience to be a part of America's solar eclipse yesterday (partial for us here in NJ). We didn't have eclipse glasses, but Evan remembered watching an eclipse as a child using a box with a pinhole. I found directions here, and we made one! I found the scriptures (below) afterward, and it confirmed the strange excitement and joy I experienced. It was like God's hand was moving the planets around, inviting us to watch--with Him. It was also amazing to see the clouds floating by on the image reflected in in the box-- we could actually see the 'clouds' moving over the 'sun'-- surreal! View from out kitchen window • 1:45 pm • There was an odd stillness during the 'celestial dimming' as I came to view it. Like a hush, like God turned the knob down on the dimmer switch. It was soooo cool!! Ah, Lord God! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. There is nothing too hard for You. Jeremiah 32:17 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. Colossians 1:16 The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork. Psalm 19:1 For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities-- his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God. Romans 1:20 Thank you, Heavenly Father, for the phenomenal 'Light Show'-- You are so HUGE and incomparable! Thank you for loving us! One of my favorite songs!
Ev saw this amazing (huge) spider outside our front door this morning... I'm glad he's OUTside!!! :-O
