 The contents on our front porch are growing! Water still streaming into the basement... Up twice during the night to run the sump pump. Very thankful still have electric!! Waiting for hot water heater to dry out to re-light.  Yesterday's evening mist over our backyard wetlands 2 Comments  Wonder where we're keeping the stuff from our barn garage? Various places, including the front porch! Even with a water pump running all night long, and a second pump running part of the night, we woke up to 14" of water in our basement. We're back in the drying-out and throwing-out-unsalvagable-wet-stuff process here. Good news: we still have electric and hot water! Thank God!! Lord, your Word says that you're working all things together for our good. (Rom. 8:28) We don't see good in this just yet, but we believe you love us and we trust You! Sunnier days ahead... NOTE TO SELF: Our next home will NOT be near a body of water that can flood! This time it's me wearing the hip-waders... :) Thank God we have power this time, so flooding in basement is kept to a minimum with water pump going.  The swamp creeping into or backyard... Swayze Mill Park - the calm before the storn  Genesis Farms, Blairstown, NJ DURING Sunday, August 28 Power went out last night at midnight. The hurricane is here...  The barn garage and woodshed in our backyard were flooded  Mid-afternoon view of our overflowing swamp from the screened upstairs window in my office  A flooded Swayze Mill Park around 4 pm  Stormy sky driving around Blairstown, 6 pm  And then.... the skies cleared... woo-hoo!! Rt. 94, Blairstown, 7 pm  Hard to believe a hurricane passed through earlier in the day! Rt. 94, Blairstown, 7 pm AFTER Monday, August 30 We woke up to a flooded basement  Ten inches... Ev lost a bin of collectible toys and we spent hours drying off another bin full of hundreds of Ev's family photos  Swamp water inside our barn garage  Ev in his hip-waders bringing things out to dry  Just a few feet away... This spider must have re-built his web very quickly or it withstood hurricane force winds and rain! Tuesday, August 30 We're till muddling through... no power or water yet. Ev bought a generator this morning. We're able able to save some of our food and get the rest of the water sucked out of the basement.  Budding baby sunflower picked last week at Genesis Farms Wednesday, August 31 Our electric was restored around 1 pm today, although didn't have water until evening. FYI... I take photos almost every day, sometimes several times a day around our house, in our neighborhood, and on our travels. Photos are usually posted ASAP or within two weeks of capture date.
